Photographing a church service with only an 85mm lens

This was definitely a hard, but fun challenge

When we set challenges for ourselves, we don't expect everything and then some to go wrong. This day the church was experiencing difficulties with their sound system, light board, video board, and then some. Some of this plays a role when you are photographing a service and some of it does not. Thankfully we still had light on the stage, but it was not the bright vibrant colors that everyone typically expects when they see my church photography. On this day, I was able to capture a more moody vibe. I also took photos at 8 AM service.

Go with the flow

I have learned to adapt to many different situations by doing photography. If I said "every shoot is easy", I would definitely be lying. You learn to adapt to the environment for that given day. You change your settings. Without adaptation clients would never receive images.
