Special Events
Military families have a plethora of events throughout a year and on base. Public Affairs (PA) photographers can take on so many events for a day. This means that while members may be promised coverage for a particular day, it may or may not happen. Issues can arise where a (PA) member was there, but a card or other factors affected the delivery of images. When you have a special moment it is important to receive coverage from a professional.
People have relied on base services and never received photos from the event or had significant delays in delivery.
Why hiring a professional is important
Specializing in military photos and events has taught me the importance of having more than 1 camera and lens for a session. When I arrive for a session I bring a majority of my large kit. Kit includes multiple bodies and lenses. Backups of SD cards and batteries are a must.
These are sessions and events that simply cannot be redone. The photos taken are moments that families frame or are showcased in a squadron office. Images are seen and viewed as important for both me and the client.
When a photographer is hired for the job so many things are taken into consideration concerning the session type or event. Most sessions require two cameras running different lenses.
Cost
Clients and future clients often times debate the overall cost of coverage. With a professional photographer the client will receive photos within a specific timeline stated within a contract. When a person relies strictly on base photography the client may be forgotten about or they will never receive the images they were promised. I try to keep my rates affordable, but take into account the timeline for the day and coverage amounts. Many things can differ between clients. Retirements, promotions, and change of commands should never be up to chance on if the client will or will not receive images.
Services currently start at $400+.
