24-70 mm
Recently I was given the opportunity to second shoot for the amazing Angelique Patrick Photography. By doing this I was offered the opportunity to use a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. This lens allows for a broad range of images that can be wide angled to close ranges without much movement of your feet.
Typically, I photograph with prime lenses. This means any zoom that may happen during a session is done by my feet. This can make a lens that's 35mm act like a 50mm and so on based on how closely I physically move by body. By using the zoom lens, I had to remind myself not to move closer because there was compensation for movement by zooming the lens to near 70mm.
Would I recommend buying it?
After using the lens for a session, I would definitely recommend this lens if it is within your budget. The lens provides a variety of images during the course of an hour or more session. It allows for versatility of not having all of your images looking the same or having to photograph with dual cameras to get different looks.
When should I use this lens?
This lens is perfect for most sessions and offers a variety of versatility. Being able to go from wide angle to telephoto is important given scenes and other locations. Definitely recommend for portrait, event, and wedding photographers.
