The Mission
Their mission is to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to play Miracle League baseball, regardless of their abilities. Promote community support and sponsorship for the league. Promote the construction of specialized fields for the needs of players and family members.
How did I find out about Miracle League?
We had a volunteer night through my young adults group at church where instead of meeting at church that week everyone volunteered. Everyone in our group became someones "Buddy". Whenever you are a buddy, you are helping the individual to play the game and help them with the game. You also have to protect the player from being hit with the ball. You help make the game where they want to keep coming back. Sometimes all they want is for someone to throw a ball with them or run the bases.
Whenever I was volunteering one night, a person I knew from church brought up that I did photography. For the all-star game I was allowed to photograph on the field to capture the excitement of Miracle League.
If you can, please volunteer as a buddy. Many locations have been below their typical buddy count since COVID. Please help these amazing people to be able to continue to play baseball.
