Google

Google offers numerous benefits for a photography business, primarily through increased visibility and accessibility. By creating a Google My Business profile, photographers can improve their local search ranking, making it easier for potential clients to find them. If you are wanting to be viewed in a legitimate way in your location, you need to embrace Google and create a business profile. You can set office hours and when you can be reached and where. The business can also put specials and new services as updates.

Google Ads also allows for targeted advertising, reaching the right audience based on location, interests, and search behavior. Additionally, Google’s suite of tools, like Google Photos for storage and Google Drive for organization, helps photographers manage their work efficiently. With Google Reviews, clients can leave feedback, building trust and enhancing the business's credibility.

Website

A website is essential for a photographer as it serves as a professional online portfolio, showcasing their work and style to potential clients. It provides a central hub for booking inquiries, offering detailed information about services, pricing, and contact options. A well-designed website boosts credibility, helping photographers stand out in a competitive market. Additionally, it improves search engine visibility, driving organic traffic through SEO strategies. With features like client galleries, blog posts, and booking forms, a website makes it easier for clients to interact, ultimately leading to more business opportunities.

Facebook

Facebook benefits photographers by offering a platform to showcase their work, engage with clients, and build a community. Photographers can create a business page to share portfolios, updates, and promotions, reaching a wide audience through organic posts and targeted ads. Facebook's interactive features, such as comments, likes, and shares, help increase visibility and foster client relationships.

Additionally, photographers can join local groups or photography communities to network, gain referrals, and stay informed about industry trends. The platform's event feature is also useful for promoting workshops or photo sessions. Please be aware that just because you posts your services in a group does not guarantee bookings or immediate clients. Some photographers may be favored more simply due to the starting rates in a local area (this can be high or low). Credibility is not always highlighted in these groups since it is strictly opinion based.

Instagram

Instagram is a powerful tool for photographers, as it allows for a visual-first approach that directly showcases their work to a broad audience. With its highly engaging format, photographers can share images, behind-the-scenes content, and stories to connect with potential clients. The platform's algorithm favors consistent posting and engagement, helping photographers grow their following and reach. Instagram’s hashtags, location tags, and direct messaging make it easy to discover new clients and network within the photography community. It's a cost-effective way to market your brand, get noticed, and build a loyal client base.

Utilizing Instagram is how I grew as a photographer. Going viral, while it has many perks it is not realistic. People may know you for one thing and you switch to another. Over the last year, I have lost many followers. Followers do not equal clients.

I have had people come to me and say "You must be rich" all because of going viral. The reality is if you are getting paid by Meta most of us are lucky to make $2 a month. Unless there is a sponsorship of some sort we are not making anything.
